Adding an app to your home screen won’t work in here. Tap the three dots button in the corner and choose Open in Safari or Open in Chrome, then come back to this page.
Putting an app on your phone
Pick your device. We’ve guessed already — change it if we guessed wrong.
Same steps on an iPad.
- Make sure you’re in Safari. If you tapped a link inside Facebook, Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp you’re in their own mini-browser and the next steps won’t be there. Tap the three dots, or the compass icon, in the corner and choose Open in Safari.
- Open the app you want using its blue Open the app button above.
- Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen — the square with an arrow coming out of the top of it. On an iPad it’s at the top right instead.
- A list slides up. Scroll down it until you see Add to Home Screen. Tap that.
- Tap Add in the top right corner.
Done. The icon is now on your home screen and opens full screen, just like any other app.
- Make sure you’re in Chrome. If you came from Facebook or WhatsApp, tap the three dots in the corner and choose Open in Chrome.
- Open the app you want using its blue Open the app button above.
- Tap the three dots menu at the top right of Chrome.
- Tap Install app. Some phones say Add to Home screen instead — same thing.
- Tap Install to confirm.
Done. The icon lands in your app drawer and usually on your home screen too. Hold and drag it wherever you want it.
- Open the app you want using its blue Open the app button above.
- In Safari: go to the File menu at the top of the screen and choose Add to Dock. Give it a name and click Add.
- In Chrome or Edge: click the three dots menu, then Cast, Save and Share, then Install page as app.
- It now lives in your Applications and Launchpad. Drag it from Launchpad down onto the Dock to keep it there.
Done. It opens in its own window with no browser tabs around it.
